Share The Gospel, The Camp's First Newsletter

The first camp newsletter, created by volunteers in January 1950, was a four-page publication featuring history, photographs, and forward-looking ideas. Professionally printed in black and white on glossy paper, it marked the beginning of the camp regularly sharing about its ministry and vision.
The newsletter announced the first General Financial Appeal for $5,000. It asked the congregations to support the Camp budget to help accomplish the following goals in the 50s:
- Build more cabins and install lights in every cabin
- Finish existing cabins to be more comfortable
- Put final exterior siding on the dining hall
- Build bath houses and septic systems
- Build a fireplace in the dining hall
- Paint all the buildings
- Build a boating dock
- Improve the big field
The first General Financial Appeal in 1950 was a bold action because it asked congregations to include FLBC in their annual church budgets. That was the beginning of congregational ownership and ongoing support of this essential ministry.
